Our Data Analytics Bootcamp is aimed at total beginners. If you know how to work with spreadsheets but haven’t written a single line of code, you’re in the right place. In our preparatory course you will learn to write your very first programs, from a single line to a rock-paper-scissors game. Once you’ve finished the prep course, you’re required to solve a small coding challenge to make sure you’re up to speed and ready for the on-site portion of our Data Analytics Bootcamp.
In the first two weeks of the bootcamp, you will focus on the fundamentals of the Python language: What is a program in the first place? What are the techniques to code effectively? How can you recognize and fix mistakes? We’ll cover data structures, loops, and common Python functions in detail by implementing basic statistics and a small game.
In weeks 3 and 4 you will learn one of the most important Python libraries: pandas. You’ll read tables into your program, analyze the data and create plots. We want to get you excited about how much you can achieve with a single line. During these two weeks, you will analyze two datasets in detail. Effectively, pandas code might substitute many of your Excel functions from now on.
SQL databases have been a tool for analyzing data for almost 50 years. We assume that they are here to stay, at least for another 50. In weeks 5+6 you’ll use PostgreSQL, one of the most powerful Open Source databases to store large amounts of data in a clean format. You’ll write SQL queries to examine the data and, of course, Python to connect everything. Communicating your results effectively is one of the most important skills of a data analyst. You will use various tools to create interactive dashboards and tell stories with your data. In the final week of the course you’ll combine everything you’ve learnt in your self-defined final project.
Having completed the bootcamp, our doors remain open for personal career sessions (providing we have capacity). You’ll also have lifetime access to our Slack channel, which keeps you connected to thousands of Spicedlings throughout your career. On top of that, graduations and Spiced events are always a great opportunity to come back and reconnect with the community.
